Roles & Responsbilities

  • You are responsible for driving B2B sales and growth of the PHCL R&D product Formulation Kitchen and virtual brand space for the organisation.
  • Have a good understanding of the PHCL’s business products and services and be able to advise others about them.
  • Research and identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services or new ways of reaching existing markets.
  • You should have a keen interest in the food and beverage industry with a desire to sign up for the best local and international restaurant operators and kitchens for new product development, recipe standardization, food photo and videography, product labelling and marketing communication.
  • Develop a sales campaign, create a sales pipeline, and negotiate pricing to secure the most attractive prices and suppliers.
  • Seek out the appropriate contact in an organization
  • Create company intro and pitch for service or product demo
  • Write a pitch for email and social media
  • Do cold calling, email campaigns and social media campaigns
  • Send campaigns and schedule appointments with interested parties
  • Ability to conduct cold calls and walk-ins, find a warm lead out of nowhere, schedule in-person meetings, or over the phone and sell PHCL products and services to restaurants and hospitality businesses in India and globally.
  • Purchase contacts from aggregators or search individually via job networking platforms.
  • Procuring new clients through direct contact, word-of-mouth, and collaboration with the marketing department.
  • Attending networking activities to research and connect with prospective clients
  • Arrange a meeting for prospective clients with the top management of your company
  • Continuous follow-ups with multiple collaborators by fostering relationships.
  • Carry out sales forecasts and analyses and present your findings to senior management
  • Understand the customer needs and be able to respond effectively with a good plan of how to meet these
  • Think strategically by seeing the big picture and setting aims and objectives to develop and improve the business
  • Work strategically by carrying out necessary planning to implement operational challenges
  • Suggesting upgrades or added products and services that may be of interest to clients.
  • Crafting business proposals and contracts by liaising with the legal team to draw in more revenue from clients.
  • You will be working closely with the finance and product development team, and regulatory with the expanded team of supply chain, formulation development, packaging technology, customer service, and legal of PHCL to identify prospective clients, draft work order proposals and secure new business.
  • Exceed sales targets & performance-based goals while working independently
  • Keep abreast of trends and changes in the business world.
Required Qualification: Bachelor's degree in science, preferably Chemistry, pharmacy, Food Science, Food Technology, Biochemistry, Hotel management, Biotechnology, and/or equivalent technical and with sales and marketing experience.
Required Experience:Minimum 2 years of experience in B2B sales in contract research organization focusing on pharmaceutical, veterinary, nutraceuticals, or food industries food & beverages product development knowledge

Job Title: Business Development Manager - Restaurants, Hotels and Cloud Kitchen
Reports To:Sales Head. (Sales and New Business development)
Job Function:

This role will be based in Chennai and will be focused on new business generation and maintaining relations with existing clients. Success in the role will require knowledge, connections and the ability to generate leads in the new recipe development, recipe standardization, and reverse engineering. Your time will be split between being “on the road” on sales calls, working remotely and in the Chennai office. As our Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for signing partnership agreements between PHCL and the best-in-class restaurants and hospitality businesses to further grow our delivery NPD, reverse engineering, and pre-consumer market.


Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday to Saturday, 11:00a.m. to 8:00pm. Hours may vary on occasion, depending on workload.

Skills Required

  • Strong understanding of the food and beverage industry sector.
  • Familiarity with GMP would be considered an asset.
  • Strong sales skills: you understand how to identify and qualify leads, and you love closing deals.
  • Empathy for the hospitality industry. You have a desire to help create additional revenue streams for hospitality businesses in order to help them thrive in a post-covid world.
  • Outgoing & confident, with an ability to influence.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work remotely, under pressure, and you get a kick out of exceeding targets.
  • You are proactive, prepared and can think on your feet.
  • Ability to prepare PPT for clients
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms
  • Ability to use MS Excel for contact generation and deal cycle tracking
  • Excellent English skills complete your profile
  • You are an ‘out-of-the box’ thinker and want to always challenge the status quo
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously in a highly demanding environment that can pivot at any moment, with strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
